The Sunset Island Indoor Pool provides a beautiful place to swim when the weather’s not cooperating or you need a place to escape the heat. Located next to the Clubhouse & Fitness Center, this guarded, five-lane, Olympic-sized pool is available for swimming laps or just taking a dip.

Private Bayfront Beaches
While the community gate is only three blocks from the ocean, Sunset Island guests have the luxury of three Private Bayfront Beaches right on the Island. Bring your beach chair, sand toys, and a good book for a peaceful day on the Bay. With shallow waters and no waves, the bay is a great place for young children and novice swimmers to enjoy the water – a great alternative to the rough surf of the ocean.

Fitness Center
Sunset Island’s state-of-the-art Fitness Center provides a great place to keep your workout going during your vacation. Guests have access to an array of treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, free weights, and nautilus for targeting all muscle groups. Bring your own workout music, or catch up on the news or your favorite sports teams on a series of flat-screen TVs. Locker room facilities are available.

Community Clubhouse
A hub of activity in Sunset Island, the Community Clubhouse houses the Fitness Center, Indoor Pool, and other common areas. Stop by the community Library for a large assortment of books & magazines, and a peaceful reading spot away from the bustle of beach life. Guests also have access to several Lounge Areas and even a Party Room that can be reserved through the Sunset Island Community Association.

Interactive Fountains
Sunset Island’s Interactive Fountains are beautiful to watch, and also provide a fun place to cool off. Located next to the pond and across from the Snack Bar & General Store, these fountains contain a series of water jets that spray water at varying pressures as guests move around.
Nature Paths at Sunset Island Ocean City
Scenic Nature Path
Sunset Island’s Scenic Nature Path is one mile long and runs along the entire perimeter of the island. Some of the island’s most beautiful vistas of the bay and wetlands can be seen here – with waterfowl, kayakers, and boats in the distance. The path is made of boardwalk and other natural materials and is suitable for walking, jogging, and riding bikes.

Why battle traffic to run to the grocery store? Sunset Island’s General Store sells coffee, wine, groceries, fresh foods, paper products, souvenirs, and many other common necessities. The store is located on the first floor of the clock tower building across from the Interactive Fountains, and is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, with varying hours in the off-season.

Stop by the Snack Bar for a quick bite to eat before heading off to your next Ocean City adventure. Guests can purchase fresh coffee, bagels, donuts, fresh fruit, drinks, snacks – and of course – hand-dipped ice cream. The store is located on the first floor of the clock tower building across from the Interactive Fountains and is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, with varying hours in the off-season.
Crabbing at Sunset Island Ocean City
Fishing & Crabbing Pier
Fishing & crabbing is permitted on Sunset Island’s 100-foot, Bayfront pier, located at the end of Sunset Island Dr. Bring your own tackle, traps & bait, and spend an afternoon of fun reeling in a big one. A great spot for beginners and seasoned fishermen alike, this is the only area on the island where this is allowed. Ocean City bay areas are known for Maryland Blue Crabs, flounder, tautog, bluefish & more.
Boat Slips at Sunset Island Ocean City
Marina & Boat Slips
Guests with boats can rent a weekly boat slip at the Sunset Island Marina, which is privately owned by nearby Advanced Marina (410-723-2124). Please note that the Sunset Island property does not have its own boat ramp or trailer storage. However, there is a public boat ramp on 87th St. and municipal trailer storage on 100th St. Advanced Marina can also store trailers and put your boat in the water for a fee.
